The misadventure of two German climbers stranded at over 4,000 meters on the eastern Breithorn Twin, in the Monte Rosa massif, ended happily. At dawn, the Aosta Valley Mountain Rescue Service managed to reach them by helicopter and bring them safely down to the valley. They were taken to Parini Hospital in Aosta for checks, where they appeared to be in good condition. The two had been trapped on Thursday during their descent due to a technical problem: their rope had become stuck, making it impossible to continue. In the previous hours, helicopter rescue had been prevented by bad weather. The attempt to approach by land had also been interrupted due to the high risk of avalanches. The emergency response center therefore advised them to wait for the weather conditions to improve and find shelter, a strategy that allowed them to gain time until this morning's rescue.
