Poste Italiane, like the main European postal services, has suspended parcel deliveries to the United States. This decision was taken by France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, and Italy following the Trump administration's trade policy on customs duties. In the case of Italy, Poste Italiane has reiterated that “it will be forced, like other European operators, to temporarily suspend the acceptance” of goods to the US. A decree by US President Donald Trump repeals the customs exemption that allowed free shipments to the United States for parcels worth up to $800 (approximately €685) and introduces a complex system that links the new tariffs to the duties established for each country. The suspension decided by Poste Italiane applies to all goods. In a statement published on its website, the company specifies that “shipments of correspondence not containing goods will continue to be accepted, as well as those transported by Poste Italiane to the United States through the Poste Delivery International Express service, which is managed through a different logistics process”.
