Jannik Sinner makes no mistake in his debut at the 2025 US Open. The Italian easily defeated Czech Vit Kopriva in just over an hour and a half, showing reassuring form after his withdrawal in Cincinnati in the final against Carlos Alcaraz. “It's always special to come back here, the atmosphere is unique. I'm happy to feel good again and ready to compete,” said the Italian number one at the end of the match. Sinner recalled last year's victory in New York with emotion, while emphasizing that each edition represents a new challenge: “The success of 2024 remains a wonderful memory, but we have to start from scratch”. During the match, tape on his right hand attracted attention, but the South Tyrolean reassured everyone: “It was just to protect a small blister, nothing to worry about”. Satisfied with his performance, Sinner admitted that there is still room for improvement: “The match was very positive, but I will have to improve some aspects to move forward in the tournament”. Then a joke about his coach Vagnozzi: “I asked him to stay on the court to train a little more, but he said no. I trust my team: they have the clearest vision”.
