Venice continues to grapple with mass tourism and gangs of pickpockets who crowd the streets and squares. The latest protest by residents appeared in Calle de la Mandola, where for one day the street sign was replaced with a provocative banner: 'Calle pickpocket'. An ironic but bitter gesture to denounce a situation that has been exasperating the city for years: thefts, fights, and assaults that ruin daily life and the image of the Serenissima. However, this provocation also shows the citizens' desire to rebel, determined not to give up.
