Opening on March 29 next year and continuing through June 28 is the exhibition that the Met in New York will dedicate to Raphael, the genius of the Italian Renaissance. It took seven years to put together loans from the world's major museums and get 200 of the most important drawings, paintings, and tapestries that will make up "Raphael: Sublime Poetry". This is the first monographic exhibition dedicated to Raphael in the United States. Works on display include the Madonna Alba from the National Gallery of Art; preparatory drawings from the Lille Museum; and the portrait of Baldassarre Castiglione, now in the Louvre. Other works come from the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, the Galleria Borghese, the Barberini Corsini National Galleries, the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche in Urbino and the Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria, the Pinacoteca in Bologna, the Uffizi and Vatican Museums, and the British Museum.
