Alarm continues to grow over the spread of private images of women ending up online without their consent. Following the case of the ‘My Wife’ group, the existence of a platform with over 200,000 members has emerged, which hosted a section entirely dedicated to female politicians. Photos taken out of context and accompanied by vulgar and sexist comments, which have nothing to do with the public activities of the victims, were circulating in the forums. Among the names mentioned are leaders and parliamentarians from different parties, from Giorgia Meloni to Elly Schlein, Maria Elena Boschi, Daniela Santanchè, and many others. The incident prompted several female politicians, such as Alessia Morani, Valeria Campagna, and Lia Quartapelle, to publicly denounce what had happened. Quartapelle herself announced that she would be filing a formal complaint, emphasizing that the legal battle was not only personal but also for the protection of all the women involved. Meanwhile, many users are trying to delete their profiles from the offending platform, generating a veritable exodus. However, closing accounts takes thirty days and does not guarantee the immediate removal of posts and comments, creating further discontent among those who want to dissociate themselves from that context.
