"We are the EU country that has saved the most Palestinian lives, but we could no longer do so if we cut ties with Israel". This was mentioned by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani during an interview with the Roman newspaper Il Messaggero. "We leave the sterile debate to others", he explained. "We take concrete steps to support the Palestinian people and will continue to do so. Today, we demonstrate this". Tajani spoke on the eve of the arrival in the capital of the Foreign Minister of the Palestinian National Authority, Varsen Aghabekian. With her, the Deputy Prime Minister will visit today some of the children that Italy managed to evacuate from Gaza, to be treated in Roman hospitals. "We are the fourth country in the world, after Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, for minors rescued from Gaza: we have rescued 181. More than all other European countries combined". "Italy", said the minister, "is doing everything possible to alleviate the suffering of civilians, for which Hamas also bears much of the responsibility".
