Lieutenant Colonel Emanuela Alessandra Scuderi is the first woman to command an Army unit in Sicily. Scuderi has taken command, in Messina, of the 6th Command and Tactical Support Unit Aosta, succeeding her colleague Angelo Lo Giudice. The transfer ceremony took place at Messina's Crisafulli Zuccarello barracks. Emanuela Scuderi, who was born in Catania 41 years ago, grew up in the city before enrolling in the Modena Military Academy in the 185th class of the regular role and completing primary and secondary education at the Nazario Sauro and Federico de Roberto state schools, as well as the Principe Umberto scientific high school.
