Every year, coinciding with the massive return from summer vacation, an unavoidable event occurs, affecting millions of Italians traveling or recently returned from vacation: the so-called "post-vacation blues", which affects more than 35% of the population, according to Pool Pharma, a leading Italian supplement company. This sense of anxiety, melancholy, and weariness primarily affects people aged 25 to 45, making returning to normality a difficult task after a period of vacation or extended rest. What are the most common warning signals of this abnormal psychophysical state? Insomnia is the most prevalent symptom, with 42% of those interviewed experiencing it. It is primarily triggered by work-related concerns, which have a significant impact on day-to-day operations. Difficulty falling asleep or frequent awakenings are obvious signs of illness. Physical symptoms like weakness and weariness come in second, accounting for 33% of cases: the body adjusts to a slower, more relaxed pace and may experience exhaustion and fatigue when returning to the normal routine. Another psychological sign is irritation, which occurs in 18% of instances.
