"The targets established by European institutions for the automotive sector by 2030 are no longer feasible unless we take into account the possibility of a market collapse of approximately 30% or the financial collapse of all manufacturers in Europe. This is an unthinkable scenario", stated Jean-Philippe Imparato, Head of Enlarged Europe & European Brands at Stellantis, during the management meeting that preceded the opening of IAA Mobility 2025, the international motor show (Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung) in Munich on September 8. Imparato further stated that Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa will provide an update on the company's vision with respect to electric vehicles, "as we require him to demonstrate the potential of Stellantis in five and ten years". The electric transition was also discussed at Italy’s Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, during a meeting between Antonio Filosa and Minister Adolfo Urso, focused on the main challenges and opportunities for Italy’s automotive sector. The sector is in a particularly sensitive state, characterized by fast technological change, supply shortages, and pressure on manufacturing costs. As a result, the discussions centered on managing the industrial crisis as well as developing methods to boost Italian companies' global competitiveness. "It was a cordial meeting; we must work together", declared the CEO of the world's fourth-largest manufacturer, which comprises Peugeot, Fiat, and Jeep brands, upon leaving the meeting.
