In 2024, Italy’s sports industry exports reached a total value of €4.7 billion. According to an analysis by the Manlio Masi Foundation, in a sector dominated by China—holding 30.6% of global exports—followed by Vietnam (9.3%) and Germany (5.4%), Italian sporting goods secured fifth place worldwide and second in Europe, with a 3.8% share. This performance is notably higher than Italy’s overall share of global exports (2.9%).
Italian excellence stands out particularly in winter sports equipment (third place with 11% of the global market), hunting and fishing (9.6%, second place), and water sports (5%, fourth place). The main export markets for Italian sporting goods are the United States (€675 million), France (€567 million), and Germany (€526 million). The most exported categories include footwear and apparel (€1.1 billion), fitness equipment (€878 million), and bicycles and components (€759 million).
