How did Italians spend their summer holidays this year? According to a survey by the Touring Club Italiano’s research center, which collected responses from over 300,000 participants, nearly 93% of Italians took at least one vacation between June and September 2025. Italy remained the top destination, chosen by 69% of respondents—up two points from 2024 and still above pre-pandemic levels (63% in 2019). The most popular regions were Trentino-Alto Adige (14%), Tuscany and Sardinia (9% each), and Puglia (8%). Among travelers under 40, Sicily ranked second after Trentino, followed by Sardinia and Puglia. Short-haul travel continues to grow: 41% of respondents chose destinations within their home region or a neighboring one, up from 38% in 2024 and 37% in 2023.
