The second half of 2025 starts with a less-than-optimistic outlook for Italian mechanical companies. The results of Anima Confindustria's most recent poll of member companies show broad indicators of a downturn, with numerous projections forecasting a more than 5% drop in turnover compared to the same period in 2024. Approximately one in every four businesses anticipates a significant decrease, while growth opportunities remain restricted. This development reflects the market unpredictability and operational challenges that many businesses have faced in recent months. The export analysis provides a snapshot of the situation, indicating signs of shrinkage. Only a small percentage of businesses foresee major gains in export sales, with most expecting stability or decline. Specifically, 27.5% of the sample reported a potential decline of up to 5%, which confirms that the sector's performance is still being impacted by the slowdown in international demand and limits growth opportunities in foreign markets.
