In a video message to the convention of the Spanish nationalist party Vox, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni once again spoke about the murder of U.S. far-right activist Charlie Kirk, who died on September 10 after being struck by a bullet while holding a debate at Utah Valley University in Orem. "His sacrifice", said the president, "reminds us of the depths of violence, but we will not be intimidated or fall into the trap of extremists and bad teachers in suits and ties". Meloni referred to Kirk as "a young man, a courageous father, who paid the price of his freedom with his life". The prime minister had already commented on the murder of the MAGA activist at the center-right UDC party's party on Saturday, September 13, stating that "even in Italy, the climate is becoming unsustainable", which drew the ire of the opposition. Elly Schlein, the leader of the biggest center-left party, responded, "If Meloni doesn't name names, she's the one encouraging hatred".
