A 1,000-square-meter area at the Polytechnic University of Turin houses roughly 700 potted grapevines, transforming the campus into an open-air laboratory for sustainability, science, and social interaction. It is Campus Grapes, the world’s first hi-tech urban vineyard. The project, created by Turin-based startup Citiculture, is the product of collaboration between government agencies, universities, and local companies. The campus will include laboratories, exhibition spaces, co-working places, and training programs focused on the ecological and digital transformation. The project's scientific quality and impact are ensured by a Scientific Committee chaired by the Polytechnic University of Turin and made up of representatives from the Polytechnic University, the University of Turin, Citiculture, and a representative from the supporting firms. The Committee coordinates research activities, evaluating and guiding proposals from professors, researchers, and students, with an interdisciplinary and results-oriented approach. Campus Grapes is part of the Polytechnic University of Turin's "Nature Based Solutions" program, which aims to explore concrete solutions for climate adaptation. As a result, it will serve as a hub for advanced Agritech training, in conjunction with the university's flagship master's degree program, Agritech Engineering.
