According to GoStudent's Future of Education Report 2025, there is a disturbing divergence between school and the skills needed in tomorrow's labor market. The most noteworthy statistic comes from employment projections: 65% of youngsters will work in jobs that do not now exist. This statistic emphasizes the education system's structural flaws and the widening gap between current education and future needs. The percentage of Italian students who believe school is insufficient to prepare them for the future is 49%, making Italy one of the countries with the most skepticism of traditional education. The lack of sufficient early childhood education is a key issue, and underfunding of mental health services in schools exacerbates the situation. Only 44% of Italian students have access to AI-based learning tools in the classroom, putting Italy at a disadvantage compared to other European countries. Italian parents, students, and teachers all agree that the school system requires dramatic reform. Sixty-two percent of parents want new methods for evaluation to replace tests and essays, which they consider outmoded. Simulation-based evaluation is the preferred option for 86% of Italian teachers, outperforming the European average (74%). Modernization requests also include the inclusion of new disciplines, such as cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, which students and parents prioritize.
