The Tempio Pausania Court condemned Ciro Grillo, son of Five Star Movement founder Beppe Grillo, to eight years in prison, together with Edoardo Capitta and Vittorio Lauria. Francesco Corsiglia was condemned to six and a half years. This decision finishes the trial for the gang rape of two young ladies on the night of July 16-17, 2019, in Porto Cervo. None of the four defendants appeared in court, nor did the main accuser, an Italian-Norwegian student who was 19 at the time. The judges granted mitigating circumstances and ordered provisional damages for the civil parties: €10,000 each from Grillo, Lauria, and Capitta, and €5,000 from Corsiglia. Corsiglia was found guilty of gang rape but acquitted of harassing the student's companion by sharing sexually explicit images taken as she slept on the couch in the Grillo family villa. The full amount of damages will be determined in civil court.
