In Italy, during the Coronavirus pandemic, counterfeit masks were allegedly imported – dangerous for health and paid at triple the market price: the accusation comes from Fratelli d’Italia. "Serious facts are emerging", said representatives of the ruling party during a press conference in the Chamber of Deputies about the findings of the Covid Commission of Inquiry, which was established to shed light on the management of the coronavirus pandemic during Giuseppe Conte's second government. Presenting documents, records and testimonies, Fratelli d’Italia further claims that the Conte government “knew both that the CE mark on the masks was counterfeit, and that we were paying triple". These devices, the accusation continues, allegedly ended up in hospitals: “What impact did the use of these masks have on the high rate of infection and death in healthcare settings?” asks Fratelli d’Italia.
