Italy is introducing the "Italian Organic" designation, which will safeguard 100% domestic production. The new label, a multicolored heart, is set to hit shelves early next year. In Italy, the overall number of organic producers has topped 97,000, representing a 2.9% rise from 2023 and a staggering 62% increase over the previous decade. Actual farms have expanded by 3.4%, totaling over 87,000. Demand for organic products is also increasing, with the sector presently worth €4 billion in large-scale retail alone. As for cultivated land, organic farming now covers more than 2.5 million hectares – about one-fifth (20.2%) of all arable land.
