Achille Polonara has taken another step forward in his fight against myeloid leukemia. The forward of Dinamo Sassari recently underwent a bone marrow transplant at the hematology department of the Sant’Orsola hospital in Bologna. The athlete himself made the announcement, reassuring his followers and friends on social media with a few words of relief: "Transplant done, everything's fine". Polonara underwent surgery after three months of treatment and two rounds of chemotherapy, owing to a 90% compatible American donor. The former Virtus player, a symbol of courage and determination both on and off the field, can now keep up his fight with new hope.
