The future of San Siro is starting to take shape. If Milan’s city council approves the sale of the current stadium, the new home of Inter and Milan will be designed by star architect Norman Foster and David Manica.
The clubs have already outlined their intention to demolish about 90% of the existing structure. A section of the second tier, however, will remain untouched, as it is set to receive historic landmark status on November 10.
According to details revealed in a joint statement, the new stadium will seat 71,500 spectators and be part of a 281,000-square-meter urban regeneration plan. Conceived around innovation and sustainability, the venue will be built on two steeply inclined rings to guarantee optimal visibility from every seat, with cutting-edge accessibility features and sections priced to remain affordable for fans.
The masterplan also includes two four-star hotels with around 350 rooms each, parking across 15,000 square meters, offices, retail spaces, restaurants, and a joint Inter and Milan museum. With a ticket price estimated at €38, the museum alone could attract up to 450,000 visitors annually.
