Jannik Sinner’s strong run at the China Open in Beijing continues. The Italian secured a place in the semifinals by defeating Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, after one hour and 20 minutes of play. Sinner was unstoppable in the opening set, dropping just a single game. The second set proved more complicated: trailing 4-5 and down a break, he found the composure to turn the match around, stringing together three consecutive games to seal the win. “I struggled to hold serve at times, but I’m happy with how I fought and stayed focused,” he said afterwards. Next up is Australia’s Alex de Minaur, who advanced after Jakub Mensik was forced to retire. The head-to-head record clearly favors the Italian, who has won all ten of their previous meetings. “It will be a tough challenge,” Sinner noted. “The courts here are slow, making it hard to score points. I’ll have to be ready.”
