Clear victory for the center-right in the Marche regional elections. Outgoing president Francesco Acquaroli (FdI) obtained 52.32% of the vote, defeating Matteo Ricci, the progressive contender, with 44.55%. "The teamwork of the government and the region paid off", Acquaroli said, dedicating the victory to Giorgia Meloni, who was there with her sister Arianna amid applause from the electoral committee. Fratelli d’Italia confirms itself as the driving force of the coalition and soars to 28%, followed by Forza Italia (8.5%) and a downsized Lega at 7.2%, far from the 22% recorded in 2020. For Meloni, Tajani and Salvini, the result is a sign that “good governance has been rewarded". Ricci acknowledged his defeat, referring to it as an "unequal fight", in part because of the legal complications that have affected his campaign. Nevertheless, the center-left vowed to persist with the "progressive camp." Elly Schlein reiterated that "unity is the only viable option", while Giuseppe Conte acknowledged that "the proposal did not convince". On the list front, the Democratic Party fell from 25.1% to 23.1%, although it remained the major opposition party, far ahead of the 5 Star Movement (5.18%). Turnout was 50.1%, down 10 points from the previous round.
