Jannik Sinner delivered a commanding performance in the China Open final, sweeping past American teenager Learner Tien 6-2, 6-2 in just over an hour. The Italian, back to full fitness after recent physical issues, secured his 21st career title and third of the season, following his triumphs at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. It is Sinner’s second success in Beijing, two years after his win over Daniil Medvedev, and comes as his battle with Carlos Alcaraz for the top spot in the rankings intensifies. The Spaniard, fresh off his victory in Tokyo, still holds the No. 1 position, but Sinner will have the chance to close the gap in Shanghai, where he is defending champion. The final itself left little room for doubt. Sinner set the tone from the start, breaking Tien immediately and piling up over ten aces. The young American, visibly tense and unable to find answers, surrendered two breaks and dropped the first set in just 34 minutes. In the second, Tien briefly stayed level at 2-2 before two costly double faults handed Sinner control. From there, the Italian never looked back, sealing the win despite Tien saving two match points. With this victory, Sinner not only adds another trophy to his collection but also sends a clear signal to Alcaraz: the race for world No. 1 is far from over.
