Today is International Coffee Day, and data show how important this beverage is in Italians' daily lives: 71% drink it every day. This is according to the study "Italians and Coffee," conducted by AstraRicerche for the Italian Coffee Committee of Unione Italiana Food and presented in Rome at the event "Dal chicco verde alla tazzina: un viaggio culturale e sensoriale alla scoperta del caffè" (From the bean to the cup: a cultural and sensory journey discovering coffee), organized in collaboration with the Brazilian Embassy. Espresso remains the quintessential symbol of Italian identity, the preferred preparation method for the majority, but interesting changes are occurring: capsules, while still common, are declining, while the moka pot is regaining popularity after years of decline, and automatic coffee machines continue to gain traction in Italian households. Coffee is not merely a beverage; it is a daily ritual that embodies the cultural traditions of the country and serves as a moment of conviviality and socialization, capable of renewing itself over time without losing its essence.
