RAI has announced the termination of Enrico Varriale's employment. The former Rai Sport host was fired for reasonable cause following criminal procedures against him, one of which has already resulted in a first-instance conviction. Last June, the Court of Rome convicted the journalist to a 10-month suspended sentence for stalking and assault against his former partner. The ruling also provides, once definitive, that Varriale must attend a rehabilitation program at facilities dedicated to abusive men. During the trial, the prosecutor had recommended a two-year sentence, highlighting that the defendant's actions were the result of a broken relationship in which one party had not accepted the separation.
