Italian design is taking over Saudi Arabia: in just over a year, the first Salone del Mobile will be hosted in Riyadh, the Saudi capital. A preview of this new Arab trade show will be the three-day event from November 26th to 28th, during which 35 companies in the sector will exhibit their products at the King Abdullah Financial District, the financial hub of the Saudi capital. Titled “Red in Progress. Salone del Mobile Milano Meets Riyadh", the event's goal is to build contacts, business bridges, cultural exchanges, and collaborations between Italian excellence and this country, where 150 million arrivals (for business and tourism) are expected between now and 2030, as well as over 362,000 new hotel rooms, the majority of which will require new interior design products. The Saudi market for furniture, fixtures, and equipment is currently valued at approximately €6.11 billion and is anticipated to surpass €8 billion by 2030, driven by the residential and hospitality sectors. This is a favorable situation for Italy, as Italian wood-furniture exports to Saudi Arabia amounted to 288.3 million euros last year, a 16.9% increase from 2023.
