With a special remembrance of fashion designer Giorgio Armani, also known for his extraordinary passion for sport — to which he always offered his valuable support — the opening ceremony of the 43rd edition of “Sport Movies & TV”, the world festival of cinema, television, culture, and sports and Olympic imagery, was held at the Testori Auditorium in Palazzo Lombardia. Federica Picchi, Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Lombardy Region with responsibility for Sport and Youth; Andrea Abodi, Minister for Sport and Youth; Luciano Bonfiglio, President of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI); and the President of FICTS (Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs), Prof. Franco Ascani, organizer of the event, were among the speakers at the event. The event, preceded by a performance by the Lombardy Carabinieri Corps Band, also featured the presentation of two Guirlandes d’Honneur: one to Fabio Fognini, former tennis player and Australian Open doubles champion, and the other in memory of Ernesto Pellegrini, former president of Inter Milan. "The 43rd edition of 'Sport Movies & TV' in Milan", emphasized Undersecretary Picchi, "is a highly prestigious event that emphasizes Lombardy's central role in the international sports and cultural landscape". "It is a significant showcase," he continued, "for the promotion of the positive messages of sport and the emphasis of its ability to unite people, a platform for the development of the diverse talents and skills of our young people. The Lombardy Region supports activities that promote Olympic and Paralympic principles via sport, culture, and education".
