The city of Alba lights up today for the 95th International White Truffle Fair, inaugurated at the Teatro Sociale with the signing of a three-year agreement between the Fair Authority and UNITAR, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. The pact, signed by director Alex Mejia, strengthens Alba’s role as a hub for sustainability, education, and environmental stewardship, aligned with the UN Global Compact. The 2025 theme, “Profound Respect,” honors the land, the UNESCO hills, and the traditional knowledge of the truffle hunters. After the ceremony, the World Truffle Market and Albaqualità exhibition open in the Cortile della Maddalena, welcoming visitors every weekend until December 8. The program includes the return of “Dawn to Earth,” a lab connecting cuisine and environmental awareness, and “Crossed Sustainabilities,” a series curated by food writer Paolo Vizzari. Volunteers will also support the event’s green efforts, guiding visitors in waste sorting to reduce its ecological footprint. With more than 600,000 visitors expected and an estimated €40 million in local impact, the Alba Truffle Fair remains a cornerstone of Italian culture and sustainable gastronomy.
