Household bills in Italy have risen dramatically during the last decade. Confedilizia data indicates that electricity prices have increased by 74%, gas prices by 39%, and water prices by 47%. The primary factors contributing to these increases are the pandemic, which has increased consumer prices, and the energy crisis that has been affecting Europe as a result of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The analysis demonstrates how fixed expenses, such as electricity, gas, and water, have climbed far more than other consumer items. Large household appliances, for example, have experienced a 1.5% drop in price. Other goods, such as furniture and home furnishings, rose by 20.9%, less than the average decade-long inflation rate of 23%. This year, water expenses rose by 4.8% between June and August and 4.7% in September, following hikes of more than 6% at the start of 2025. As for gas and electricity, after a series of price hikes in the spring, September saw a decline of 5.6% and 5.8%, respectively.
