Italian exports of highly automated, innovative, and technologically advanced machinery total €32.5 billion, with a €6.5 billion growth potential. Mexico is still the top destination market in Latin America, accounting for 45.1% of regional exports, ahead of Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Peru. This is in accordance with the second edition of Ingenium, the Confindustria Research Center report that was presented in Mexico City as part of Made in Italy Day, which was promoted by the Italian Embassy. The research emphasizes Latin America's strategic importance in a global setting characterized by geopolitical instability and the redefining of trade patterns. Between 2018 and 2023, Italian machinery exports to the region experienced an average annual growth of 6.7%, higher than the global average of +2.2% during the period. Italy ranks among the top ten global exporters for 176 out of 225 types of goods, placing fourth overall after Germany, China, and Japan. It also ranks third globally in terms of market reach, trailing only China and Germany. Italy's ranking, which surpasses that of the United States, France, and Japan, is a testament to the production system's capacity to effectively serve diversified and intricate markets as a result of innovation, specialization, and quality.
