“It is a sad paradox that as our knowledge, resources, and technologies expand, we are once again witnessing famine and growing inequality,” said President Sergio Mattarella during the inauguration of the Food and Agriculture Museum and Network at the FAO in Rome.
The Italian Head of State described the decline of the multilateral system as “incomprehensible and unacceptable,” stressing that international institutions engaged in the fight against food insecurity remain “precious tools” in addressing global challenges.
Mattarella also underlined the importance of awareness and education: “Only informed citizens can become active participants in a lasting and effective commitment against hunger.”
