In the first eight months of 2025, there were 1.4 million air arrivals (+2.2%) and over 765,000 forecast for September–December (+9.4%) (National Travel and Tourism Office), with more than €2.8 billion spent in the first half of the year (Bank of Italy). The Ministry of Tourism provided these numbers on US travel in Italy during Minister Daniela Santanchè's official trip to Washington, DC, which starts from today to Saturday, the 18th. These numbers show the US market as one of the most crucial for Italian tourism. This is especially because US tourists spend the most and stay the longest in Italy, averaging €191.1 per night and 10.3 nights, increasing to 12 in the first eight months of 2025 (Italian Embassy in Washington). Additionally, with a satisfaction rating of 86.1/100, which is significantly higher than the average, American visitors are the most satisfied with Italy, suggesting a more than positive trend in the US perception of Italian tourism (The Data Appeal Company). The 2024-2025 figures confirm a strong link between Italy as a destination and American tourists, indicating positive prospects and opportunities for further development of the tourism industry and relations between the two countries, particularly given the estimated 17 million Americans of Italian origin living in the United States.
