In honor of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, which ends on October 19th, the book "Italofonia: Lingua Oltre i Confini" (Italofonia: Language Beyond Borders), published by the Accademia della Crusca and goWare and edited by Annalisa Nesi and Bruno Moretti, will be distributed free of charge in electronic form. The Accademia della Crusca, which was founded in 1583 and has been a publishing firm since then, has now expanded into electronic publication. The volume, created in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, focuses on the presence and spread of Italian beyond the borders of Italian-speaking countries. It is divided into two sections: the first is for Crusca's overseas Corresponding Academicians, who share their autobiographical experiences and analyze the situation of Italian in their respective countries. The second half includes eight pieces that discuss the presence and perception of our language "beyond borders". The geographical areas discussed include France, the countries of the former Yugoslavia, Germany, Estonia, Canada, China, and Japan. We then wanted to highlight three specific initiatives: Italian schools in Europe and Africa that report to the Ministry of Education and Merit, the activities of the Italian-speaking Radio and Television Community, and the Accademia della Crusca's Observatory of Italianisms in the World.
