The Miami-Orlando line might be Ferrovie dello Stato's first American project. "We are currently in the pre-agreement phase with a significant international fund that is interested in investing in equity in this infrastructure and, as a result, is seeking an industrial partner", Stefano Antonio Donnarumma, the CEO of the group, stated to Corriere della Sera. Donnarumma was honored in Washington on the 50th anniversary of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), an organization that acts as a resource for nearly 20 million Americans of Italian origin. When asked if there are any more projects in North America, the FS CEO disclosed that there are projects in California, between Los Angeles and Dallas, and possibly as far as San Francisco, that are connected by rail but not by high-speed lines. "They have been the subject of much discussion for an extended period of time; however, it is feasible that they may be implemented in the near future. Consequently, we have initiated the formal process of expressing our interest to collaborate with potential industrial partners. But we are also keeping track of projects in Canada”.
