Italy’s peak shopping season is approaching — extending beyond Black Friday and Cyber Monday to include early December and the run-up to the holidays. The average estimated per capita spending in Italy for many different kinds of items and occasions, including products, dinners, travel, and presents, is €227. Interesting purchase tendencies are emerging. For instance, a survey conducted by the Adyen platform indicates that Italian consumers have a significant desire to modify their purchasing decisions during the prime season: 42% consider the convenience of returning things to be the most significant factor when buying in a physical store. This data underscores the necessity for retailers to not only effectively manage the "change of mind" that is common during the holiday season, but also to provide an optimal after-sales experience that ensures flexibility, such as the ability to return items at multiple stores of the same brand. From a generational standpoint, the demand for quick returns rises with age, from 27% among 18-24 year olds to 47% for those over 65.
