Hitting the slopes this winter will come at a higher price. Ski passes across Italy are up an average of 8% compared to last year, with daily tickets reaching as much as €86 in some resorts. Season passes are becoming a luxury, now approaching €1,800 — a 38% increase since 2021. According to consumer group Assoutenti, price hikes extend beyond ski lifts: equipment rentals, ski and snowboard lessons, hotels, and restaurants have all seen price increases of around 20% over the past four years. The result is a significant decline in the number of Italians choosing snow holidays — around four million fewer than two years ago, and the downward trend is expected to continue. At Roccaraso (Abruzzo), a daily pass in peak season has risen from €47 in 2021 to around €60 this year. At Livigno, the price jump is even steeper: from €52 four years ago to €72 today. For many enthusiasts, skiing is fast becoming a luxury pastime for the few.
