In Italy, 83 companies listed on the stock exchange are worth more than $1 billion. In the United States there are 1,909, and worldwide over 5,300. Unicredit and Intesa Sanpaolo lead the group in Italy, each increasing its worth by more than $20 billion in six months, for a total of $114 billion and $113 billion, respectively. Among Italy’s “nine-zero” companies, notable performers include Rosetti Marino (offshore platforms), whose stock quintupled (+415%) thanks to its extremely limited free float, and aerospace firm Avio (+199%). These two medium-sized companies hold the national record for performance. Meanwhile, in terms of global growth, the American business Ondas Holdings (wireless networks and drones) experienced the greatest jump, rising from $78 million to $2.6 billion (+3,196%) in six months. The 83 top-performing Italian companies together are worth $1 trillion (around €800 billion) — less than half of Italy’s GDP.
