Italians appear to be growing weary of a war they are not fighting and are optimistic Zelensky will reach an agreement with Putin, even if it means surrendering some occupied territories. According to Only Numbers, 41.9% of Italians believe Zelensky should have accepted Trump's proposed deal. Of these, 91.8% justified their decision as a necessary sacrifice to end an increasingly hopeless battle. On the other hand, 36.2% of those polled opposed the proposal, finding a compromise including the surrender of territory taken by force unacceptable and suspecting a direct agreement between Trump and Putin, which would exclude Ukraine, the really damaged party in the conflict. Among those opposed, 59.9% are concerned that such an agreement will be part of Moscow's long-term ambition to reclaim territory from the former Soviet Union. Despite criticism, 37.6% of Italians view Trump’s role positively in managing crises such as those in Ukraine and Gaza, compared to 31.4% who view it negatively. Another 15.4% consider him irrelevant.
