In 2024, roughly one in every five job postings in Italy (18.6%) came from the logistics sector — a figure that underscores the industry’s crucial importance to the national economy. The data comes from Logistics – 2025 Europe Workforce Trends, a study by Gi Group Holding, Italy’s leading HR multinational, in partnership with global labor market analytics firm Lightcast. The report reveals that logistics, in Italy as across Europe, is undergoing a deep transformation marked by a shortage of talent and skills. Companies, the study warns, must rethink how they attract and retain workers. Key challenges include evolving supply chains, new consumption patterns, automation, technological advances, workforce aging, and persistent gender imbalances. Despite its economic relevance, the sector still struggles to appeal to women and younger generations — a gap made worse by ongoing geopolitical instability. Through detailed analysis, the report outlines strategies for logistics companies to navigate today’s HR challenges and prepare for the future of work.
