In ten years, 92 billion euros in wealth have been generated, along with 24,000 new jobs. The most recent analysis, conducted by Osservatorio Birra in partnership with Althesys Strategic Consultants, shows how beer in Italy has progressed from a basic refreshing summer beverage to a fundamental pillar of the economy. The study, which examined the Shared Value generated by the beer sector over the last ten years, was presented in Rome at the Senate of the Republic on the occasion of the Birra Moretti Foundation's tenth anniversary, which pioneered the process of analyzing and measuring supply chain economic performance. The analysis demonstrates that, despite the worldwide crises of the last decade, the beer sector, while cyclical in the short term, has proven stable and a source of value in the long run. From 2015 to 2024, the beer supply chain showed constant expansion, increasing the Shared Value generated from 7.8 billion euros to 10.4 billion euros per year. The income generated by the brewing sector benefits more than just the producers. The analysis demonstrates that beer is a substantial job multiplier. Between 2015 and 2024, the total number of employees in the industry increased from around 88,000 to approximately 112,000 (+27.5%). Currently, each brewer creates 31 job opportunities across the supply chain. It is therefore no surprise that beer represents 0.42% of total national employment.
