“I remain a Neapolitan, with all the strengths and weaknesses of a Neapolitan. Every two weeks or so, I return to Naples for a brief visit; I can't bear the thought of being away from my city; the people there bring me joy. And every time, I am moved like a child", said Totò. The bond between the “Prince of Laughter” and his Naples is at the heart of an exhibition hosted in the city until January 25, 2026. Antonio de Curtis, aka Totò, born in Naples in the Rione Sanità in 1898, has always held his city close to his heart. It has long regarded him as one of its most distinguished sons, honoring him in alleys and squares with murals that immortalize his iconic visage and statues that make him timeless. Because of this close link, it was decided to hold this significant exhibition of the Neapolitan comedian and symbol of Naples around the world in the city he loved as the first stop on a project that will continue in New York. The exhibition "Totò and his Naples" is organized by the National Committee Neapolis 2500 in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Palazzo Reale of Naples (Ministry of Culture), and includes participation of Totò's descendants.
