He established one of Gucci's most memorable eras and launched his own line in 2005. He could have been an excellent designer, but in 2009, he returned to dazzle behind the camera with 'A Single Man' and again in 2016, with 'Nocturnal Animals', which won the Grand Jury Prize at Venice. Now, designer and filmmaker Tom Ford returns to cinema with a new feature film based on Anne Rice’s novel 'Cry to Heaven', a story set in 18th-century Italy. Filming will take place in Italy, with production expected to begin in early 2026. At the center of Rice's story, and likely the future film adaptation, are the so-called castrati, male singers who were castrated to preserve their unique voices. The author of 'Interview with the Vampire' tells the story of Tonio, a Venetian nobleman who discovers the world of opera and meets Guido, his teacher, who lives through him the career he himself was forced to abandon.
