Double triumph for Jannik Sinner at the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000. At the Défense Arena, the Italian champion defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets (6-4, 7-6) to regain the top spot in the ATP rankings, surpassing Carlos Alcaraz. This win netted him a prestigious title and a symbolic return to the throne of international tennis. Sinner dominated the opening set, serving with precision and capitalizing on the Canadian's uncertain start, which saw him concede the deciding break early. The match became more evenly balanced in the second set: Jannik lost several chances to increase his lead, but in the tie-break, he won the deciding game and secured his 23rd career triumph, his fifth of the season after the Australian Open, Wimbledon, Beijing, and Vienna. Sinner's victory in Paris also boosted Lorenzo Musetti's chances of qualifying for the ATP Finals in Turin; had Auger-Aliassime won, the Italian would have been mathematically eliminated. And after the final, Jannik expressed his affection for Musetti: "I hope Lorenzo makes it to Turin; it would be wonderful for Italy: two singles players and a doubles pair. When we're not playing against each other, we always support each other". At the awards ceremony, Sinner demonstrated his characteristic humility and clarity: "It was a tough match; Felix played a great tournament. I'm happy to have won, and I thank my team: they always push me to the limit. It's been an incredible week, as have the last few months. I try to improve every day, and sharing these moments with my team is special". His victory in Paris has secured his place as the world number one, at least until the Finals in Turin, where he will defend the title points he won in 2024. "Considering everything that's happened, it's an incredible result", Jannik said. "I'm happy to be number one again, even if I don't know for how long. But for now, I want to enjoy it".
