Wearing a red cap emblazoned with the phrase “Make Naples Great Again,” former Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano, now the Fratelli d’Italia lead candidate for the upcoming Campania regional elections, made a striking entrance at recent campaign events in Naples. The slogan, a clear nod to Donald Trump’s famous “Make America Great Again,” was described by Sangiuliano as “a Neapolitan reinterpretation of a successful campaign motto.” He added, “In fact, it was first coined by Ronald Reagan, and only later popularized by Trump. I wanted to use it here because Naples deserves to be great again.” Sangiuliano praised the city’s extraordinary potential: “Naples is great for its breathtaking landscape, its history, and the civilization it represents. From the Greeks to the Romans and through the centuries, this territory has inherited a remarkable cultural legacy that must be restored and celebrated.”
