On Tuesday, Vienna honored President Sergio Mattarella, who had come to the Austrian city to witness the photography exhibition "The Legacy of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino". The exhibition chronicles the intertwined existences of the two magistrates. It traces their lives from infancy in the Kalsa district to their untimely deaths. The presentation incorporates private photographs from the Falcone and Borsellino families, alongside archival images sourced from the ANSA news agency. The Head of State, together with Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, took part in the celebrations marking the International Day for the Prevention and Fight Against All Forms of Transnational Organized Crime and the 25th anniversary of the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime. The event is coordinated by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the primary UN body in charge of international drug cooperation and the fight against transnational organized crime and corruption. The exhibition, curated by journalists Francesco Nicastro and Franco Nuccio, was inaugurated for the first time in Palermo in 2012 by Giorgio Napolitano, then President of the Republic. It has been regularly updated and hosted in numerous institutional venues over the years, ranging from the Chamber of Deputies to the European Parliament in Brussels, where thousands of students from around Italy have visited.
