Ikea employees will initiate a strike on December 5th in response to what has been described as "pointless mockery of the participation bonus", as stated by several unions. They explain that "over 50% of stores will receive no bonus at all, while the remaining stores will receive insignificantly small amounts". On November 6th, the three unions report, "Ikea management met with national trade unions to present the results of the 2025 Participation Bonus. The outcome was concerning: thousands of workers will not see their dedication and professionalism acknowledged". They further note, "Meanwhile, we are receiving reports of financial bonuses being awarded to senior management. This inequitable treatment is unacceptable and offensive to store and warehouse staff". Finally, the trade unions assert, "When we proposed that all workers receive at least a symbolic bonus, the company's response was a resolute 'no: we have no resources allocated.' This stance is offensive to those who contribute daily to the success of the brand".
