Milan returns to the top of ItaliaOggi and Ital Communications' 2025 Quality of Life Survey, which was conducted in collaboration with Sapienza University of Rome. This affirms the position of Lombardy's capital: it excels in services, income, infrastructure, and economic vitality, although it continues to rank lowest in the "crime and safety" category. Behind it are Bolzano, Bologna, Florence and Monza-Brianza, with Bologna climbing one position compared to 2024 and Monza instead dropping. Rimini and Ascoli Piceno are among the provinces that have improved the most, with each gaining more than twenty positions. The lower portion of the rankings remains largely unchanged: Caltanissetta is positioned at 107th place, preceded by Crotone and Reggio Calabria. Foggia has experienced a notable decline, dropping from 93rd to 104th, as have Pordenone and Gorizia, both of which have faced substantial decreases. The study examines nine sectors, ranging from employment to health, the environment to education, and separates the 107 provinces into five territorial clusters to gain a better understanding of local differences. In 2025, the quality of life is rated good or acceptable in 60 provinces, a lower figure than prior years and suggestive of a worsening national scenario.
