During the Italy-Norway match at Milan's San Siro Stadium, a 24-year-old Norwegian tourist reported sexual abuse. The young woman, who was in the section designated for visiting supporters, informed authorities that she was feeling unwell and proceeded to the restrooms accompanied by a friend. It was there that, according to her account, a man allegedly surprised her, touching her intimate areas before disappearing into the crowd. After regaining clarity, the young woman subsequently identified the man in one of the stadium's corridors and reported him to a steward—an official responsible for overseeing spectators, a common figure in Italian stadiums. The identified individual, a 25-year-old janitor with no criminal background, was working inside the stadium at the time. The young man was apprehended by stadium staff and escorted to the police station within the Meazza Stadium, where he was officially registered as a suspect in sexual assault accusations. In Italy, this does not automatically result in arrest; the man stays free while detectives conduct their investigation. The 25-year-old admitted to entering the women's restroom, stating that he did it for work and that his only intention was to ensure the woman's well-being.
