Turin is set to host the 57th annual conference of the International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art, convening 300 delegates, including museum directors and curators, from across the globe from November 28th to 30th. Three days of collaborative sessions, performances, keynotes, and panel discussions will focus on the most urgent issues, "in a spirit of critical inquiry and collective imagination to explore the evolving role of contemporary art institutions in an increasingly complex global context", the organizers explain. Titled "Enduring Game: Expanding New Models of Museum Creation", the conference, organized into three collaborative sessions, seeks to confront the urgent issues affecting museums worldwide: economic and political challenges, social fragmentation, and the necessity for innovation. The first day will include a performance by Alessandro Sciarroni, followed by a lecture by Françoise Vergès from the Sarah Parker Remond Center for the Study of Racism and Racialization (UCL, University College London). The second day, titled "Mapping Desires," will commence with a performance by French artist Abdullah Miniawy, followed by a lecture by Elizabeth A. Povinelli, (Franz Boas Professor of Anthropology and Gender Studies at Columbia University, New York).
